Integrating Innovation into the UAE Qualifications Framework (QFEmirates)

In recent years, entrepreneurship and innovation have become important topics in academia. In 2016, they were made a compulsory joint course subject for general education or college students in the UAE higher education system. However, this viewpoint article suggests that entrepreneurship and innovation should be an integral component of each course taken by a student. The author proposes that innovativeness should be integrated into the learning outcome strands of the UAE Qualifications Framework (QFEmirates) so that this area of competency can be assessed comprehensively. The article also highlights the key challenges facing the implementation of this proposed integration and offers suggestions on how these might be overcome.
