The Role of the Educator in the Jewish Future
Davids, Mindy B.
Journal of Jewish Education, v78 n4 p297-298 2012
As the author reads through Dr. Woocher's article, she was inspired and excited by his call to reassess goals and by the possibilities he describes. At the same time, she felt overwhelmed by the complexity of the issues and the breadth of potential solutions educators face as Jewish communities in 5773. Woocher points straight to the heart of today's reality and outlines the areas that will require substantive change of attitude, design, and implementation. For, indeed, times have changed. Educational systems designed for 20th century American Jewry cannot be fully applicable or effective without educators' intentional review and response in the 21st century. Educators have worked hard over the years to improve their educational practice, to strengthen student learning, and to make content accessible and relevant to their learners. The author is proud to be able to tell parents that their children in Religious School can expect a positive experience with lasting impact. In this article, the author discusses the role of the educator in the Jewish future.
