Butcher, James N.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1980
Results indicate that short forms of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory may not be accurate substitutes for the standard form in predicting objective measures of psychopathology. Newmark et al, however, reassert their findings that short forms are indeed accurate substitutes. (Author/BEF)

Faschingbauer offered guidelines in selecting MMPI short forms as substitutes for the MMPI. This reviews empirical studies of the clinical validity of MMPI short forms and discusses MMPI-168, not considered in Faschingbauer's earlier article. Empirical evidence favors the Faschingbauer Abbreviated MMPI and the MMPI-168 over others. (Author)

Concludes that there is no evidence for differential validity in the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) between racial subgroups and that black norms for the MMPI are premature. Criticism of these findings is also presented. (Author/BEF)
