Evaluation of professional competence in rehabilitation counseling occurs routinely. However, the evaluation procedures are not fully adequate. The addition of standardized simulations could promote more accurate judgments about professional competence, facilitate identification of training needs, and ensure that counselors possess the competence required to deliver high quality services.
