This directory is intended to provide foreign language educators with a convenient reference guide containing information on the availability of resources and services that can help them enrich classroom instruction. It is meant to be useful as well to all persons who are concerned with the study or advancement of foreign languages and cultures. The information for this directory was collected by means of a questionnaire sent to more than 130 organizations related in some way to foreign languages and to 120 publishers of foreign language materials. The directory is divided into three sections: (1) Foreign Language Service Organizations; (2) Language Index; and (3) Publishers and Distributors of Foreign Language Materials. Organization information includes executive officer; date founded; source of funding; number of members; qualifications, benefits and costs of membership; number and composition of staff; purpose; subject area; grade level; services, including resource centers and libraries; geographic area served; publications; and current projects.
