Directory of Faculty Contracts and Bargaining Agents in Institutions of Higher Education, Volume 13.
Douglas, Joel M.; And Others
Data on 1986 regular and adjunct faculty bargaining agents and collective bargaining agreements in public and private U.S. and Canadian colleges are presented, along with a brief narrative description of 1986 trends. For each institution, information is provided on the bargaining agent, unit size, the year the current agent was elected, the year the initial contract was signed, the number of campuses, and the contract expiration date. Summary data are also presented on U.S. elections for bargaining agents (name of agent, size, whether the agents were elected, decertified, challenged, or whether no-agent votes were cast). Some 1974-1986 trend data for public and private colleges are provided on: the growth of collective bargaining agreements and agents, and agreements at two-year and four-year colleges. Additional data include: a 1986 breakdown for public and private colleges by specific agents, geographic distribution of bargaining agents and contracts, the number of faculty represented by the agents, the date of public sector collective bargaining legislation, decertifications for 27 institutions, colleges affected by the "Yeshiva" decision, and "no agent" votes during 1971-1986. An index of institutions cited in this directory is appended. (SW)
