A brief, non-technical synopsis of computerized data tape files available from the library of survey data collected over the last 20 years by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Educational Research and Improvement's Center for Education Statistics is provided in this directory. The available data files are listed in the following broad areas: (1) elementary and secondary education; (2) higher education; (3) vocational and adult education; (4) libraries; and (5) longitudinal studies. Each entry includes the name of the survey data file, the years for which data tapes are available, and a brief description of the data. Ordering information is given for these tapes as well as for special tabulations and mailing labels, and an order form is attached. (MES)
