Activities of the International Environmental Education Programme (IEEP) between 1975 and 1983 are outlined in this booklet, which is organized into two major sections. Section I presents principle long-term objectives and describes three phases of activity: the development of a general awareness of the necessity of environmental education; the development of concepts and methodological approaches in this field; and efforts for incorporation of an environmental dimension into the educational process of Unesco member states. In section II, projects, workshops, and publications of the IEEP are listed and appraised in terms of four principal areas: (1) exchange of information and experience; (2) research and experimentation, including studies, surveys, pilot projects, and research activities; (3) training of personnel, including international, regional, subregional, and national training workshops; and (4) educational materials and publications, including teacher-training modules in environmental education and guides on environmental education methodologies.
