2018 West Virginia Early & Elementary Learning Spotlight
West Virginia Department of Education
Based on current research and preliminary results provided by the National Institute for Early Education Research (NIEER) regarding the West Virginia Early Learning Longitudinal Study, the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) Office of Early & Elementary has reviewed the NIEER and other forms of data to make a concerted action plan. This brief document presents WVDE's 2018-19 action plan response detailing six recommendations. Additionally, statistics are highlighted relating to closing the third grade literacy achievement gap in West Virginia, extended-year learning, Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, and school readiness.
