From Spirit Murdered to Spirit Re-Sisters: An Episolary Offering/Love Letter for Adjunct Professors
Cisneros, Nora Alba
Educational Foundations, v34 n1 p85-94 2021
As a mother, daughter, and educator in Compton, California, the author writes a letter as an episolary offering/love letter for adjunct professors. The author offers these brief words as an act of gratitude, as an act of daily survival, and as an act of abundant defiance against the elimination of Women of Color (WoC) adjunct professors, writers, and mother-scholars. This epistolary offering and the narratives from Indigenous and WoC adjunct professors are prompted by the intimate writings crafted by Chicana feminist, queer, artist, educator, and writer Gloria AnzaldĂșa. By sharing experiences as adjunct educators, a future can be created right now to uplift and rebuild relationships that changes material conditions and heals spirits.
