Possible Selves: A Future in STEM?
Lewis, Fay
Primary Science, n174 p23-25 Sep-Oct 2022
In this article, the author considers the benefits of helping children envisage a future in STEM beyond the classroom. Rather than simply considering specific careers for an unknown future, it may be better to encourage children to consider "who" they would like to be rather than "what" they would like to be, that is, their 'possible selves'. Using a possible selves approach can make STEM-based work more relatable and therefore ultimately more accessible.
