A Rural School-Family-Community Partnership Model with Strategies for Social Justice Leadership
Professional School Counseling, v29 n1a 2025
Rural school counselors can be social justice leaders in school-family-community partnerships. To best understand this role, the authors introduce a rural school-family-community partnership model that is strength-based and highlights the variety of supports and barriers related to the needs of rural students, families, and communities. The model is built upon Bryan & Henry's Partnership Process Model (2012) and rural community capital types outlined by Bauch (2001), with specific strategies for social justice leadership outlined during specific stages and partnership types. We also discuss the implications for school counselors and counselor educators.
