Ziren Jiang; Joseph C. Cappelleri; Margaret Gamalo; Yong Chen; Neal Thomas; Haitao Chu – Research Synthesis Methods, 2024
Population-adjusted indirect comparison (PAIC) is an increasingly used technique for estimating the comparative effectiveness of different treatments for the health technology assessments when head-to-head trials are unavailable. Three commonly used PAIC methods include matching-adjusted indirect comparison (MAIC), simulated treatment comparison…

Liao, Yuen-kuang Cliff; Chang, Huei-wen; Chen, Yu-wen – Computers in the Schools, 2008
A meta-analysis was performed to synthesize existing research comparing the effects of computer applications (i.e., computer-assisted instruction, computer simulations, and Web-based learning) versus traditional instruction on elementary school students' achievement in Taiwan. Forty-eight studies were located from four sources, and their…

Spray, Judith A.; Reckase, Mark D. – Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics, 1996
Two procedures for classifying examinees into categories, one based on the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) and the other on sequential Bayes methodology, were compared to determine which required fewer items for classification. Results showed that the SPRT procedure requires fewer items to achieve the same accuracy level. (SLD)

Borg, Ingwer; Staufenbiel, Thomas – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1992
The representation of multivariate data by icons is discussed. The factorial sun is suggested as superior to the commonly used snowflake or sun icons and as better representing the values of the different variables and their correlational structure. Two experiments with 60 college students demonstrate the factorial sun's superiority. (SLD)

Chin, Louis; Haughton, Dominique; Aczel, Amir – Journal of Computing in Higher Education, 1996
Proposes improved, more computer-intensive statistical techniques using bootstrap and permutation tests for analyzing results of student evaluations of teaching. Application of these methods resulted in narrower (more precise) confidence intervals and larger significance levels than more classical methods. Results indicate the new techniques…

Walter, Marilyn R. – Journal of Legal Education, 1993
The effectiveness of manual and computer-assisted legal research (CALR) methods are examined and compared, and the limitations of each are noted. The current state of law students' research skills is then discussed, and the Brooklyn Law School (New York) response to the problem, integrating the methods, is described. (MSE)
