Trendafilov, Nickolay T. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1996
An iterative process is proposed for obtaining an orthogonal simple structure solution. At each iteration, a target matrix is constructed such that the relative contributions of the target majorize the original ones, factor by factor. The convergence of the procedure is proven, and the algorithm is illustrated. (SLD)

Lawrence, Frank R.; Hancock, Gregory R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1999
Used simulated data to test the integrity of orthogonal factor solutions when varying sample size, factor pattern/structure coefficient magnitude, method of extraction, number of variables, number of factors, and degree of overextraction. Discusses implications of results with regard to overextraction. (SLD)

Paunonen, Sampo V. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1997
A Monte Carlo simulation evaluated conditions that contribute to excessively high coefficients of congruence when fitting one factor pattern matrix into the space of a targeted pattern. Results support the conclusion that orthogonal Procrustes methods of factor rotation do produce spurious coefficients between predictor and criterion factor…

Swanson, H. Lee; And Others – Journal of Special Education, 1989
The factor structure of the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children was evaluated with 169 gifted students, aged 6-10. Results tentatively suggested that the factor solution for gifted students is dissimilar to that for the standardization sample, as subtests designed to assess sequential processing did not all load together, nor did those…
