Li, Jun Corser; Woodruff, David J. – 2002
Coefficient alpha is a simple and very useful index of test reliability that is widely used in educational and psychological measurement. Classical statistical inference for coefficient alpha is well developed. This paper presents two methods for Bayesian statistical inference for a single sample alpha coefficient. An approximate analytic method…

Schroeder, Marsha L.; Hakstian, A. Ralph – Psychometrika, 1990
A 2-facet measurement model is identified, and its coefficient of generalizability (CG) is examined. Three other multifaceted measurement models and their CGs are identified. An empirical investigation of all four procedures is conducted using data from a study of the psychopathology of 71 prison inmates. (SLD)

Huynh, Huynh – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1990
Procedures based on latent trait models and the Rasch model are described for computation and asymptotic statistical inference for two decision consistency indexes often used in mastery or competence testing. Simulations were conducted for typical mastery testing situations to illustrate the procedures. (SLD)

Johnson, Eugene G.; Rust, Keith F. – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1992
The use of sampling weights in deriving population estimates for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and the effects of nonresponse and undercoverage on those estimates are described. The estimation of sampling variability from complex sample surveys is also reviewed, concentrating on the jackknife repeated replication…

Kiger, Jack E.; Wise, Kenneth – College and Research Libraries, 1993
Describes the of attribute sampling to estimate characteristics of library collections and operations. The nature of statistical sampling and making a statistical inference are covered, and examples from library situations are given. Tables of determination of sample size and evaluation of results are included. (Contains six references.) (EAM)

Ottenbacher, Kenneth J. – Journal of Special Education, 1990
The agreement between visual analysis and the results of the split-middle method of trend estimation was examined using a set of 24 stimulus graphs and 30 raters. Results revealed poor agreement between the two methods, and low sensitivity, specificity, and predictive ability for visual analysis in relation to statistical inferences. (JDD)
