Finkbeiner, Carl – Psychometrika, 1979
A maximum likelihood method of estimating the parameters of the multiple factor model when data are missing from the sample is presented. A Monte Carlo study compares the method with five heuristic methods of dealing with the problem. The present method shows some advantage in accuracy of estimation. (Author/CTM)

Hammer-Higgins, Paula; Atwood, Virginia A. – Career Development Quarterly, 1989
Informs counselors of barriers to career achievement for women who choose nontraditional careers. Offers a simulation game, with management as the example, as a psychoeducational intervention strategy or preventive counseling model. Notes that The Management Game is based on empirical and descriptive research. Game directions; chance, situation,…

Klabbers, Jan – Simulation and Games, 1980
Discusses general structure and specification guidelines for interactive simulation/games, which include development of a computer simulation model, embedding the model in an interactive simulation, and embedding the simulation in a game. An outline following these guidelines is presented for the development of DENTIST, a dental health care…

Karplus, Walter J. – Perspectives in Computing, 1983
Mathematical modeling problems encountered in many disciplines are discussed in terms of the modeling process and applications of models. The models are classified according to three types of abstraction: continuous-space-continuous-time, discrete-space-continuous-time, and discrete-space-discrete-time. Limitations in different kinds of modeling…

Carrada, G., Ed.; And Others – 1983
The third workshop on marine ecosystem modeling is one in a sequence of activities designed to promote modeling as a research and management tool among Mediterranean marine scientists. Previous workshops served mainly as a forum for a familiarization with modeling, while this workshop focused on specific implementation of modeling technology. The…

Reckase, Mark D. – Journal of Educational Statistics, 1979
Since all commonly used latent trait models assume a unidimensional test, the applicability of the procedure to obviously multidimensional tests is questionable. This paper presents the results of the application of latent trait, traditional, and factor analyses to a series of actual and hypothetical tests that vary in factoral complexity.…
