Whitely, Susan E. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1979
A model which gives maximum likelihood estimates of measurement error within the context of a simplex model for practice effects is presented. The appropriateness of the model is tested for five traits, and error estimates are compared to the classical formula estimates. (Author/JKS)

Werts, C. E.; And Others – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1980
This paper demonstrates how the problem of calibrating measures can be formulated in terms of confirmatory factor analysis. The relationships between traditional approaches and a confirmatory factor approach are specified. (Author/CTM)

Epstein, Nathan B.; And Others – Journal of Marital and Family Therapy, 1983
Describes the McMaster Family Assessment Device (FAD), a newly developed questionnaire designed to evaluate families according to the McMaster Model of Family Functioning. Discusses the procedures used to develop the FAD and presents scale means and scale reliabilities from a sample of 503 individuals. (Author/JAC)

Weinrach, Stephen G.; Diamond, Esther E. – Vocational Guidance Quarterly, 1980
Interpreting interest inventories correctly encourages client understanding and decision-making skills. Inadequate time and information overload can be major obstacles. Weinrach's Discrepancy Identification can minimize these problems in interpreting the Kuder Occupational Interest Survey. Includes a response by Diamond on scoring. (JAC)
Descriptors: Career Counseling, Career Planning, Counseling Techniques, Counselors

Reynolds, Cecil R. – Journal of School Psychology, 1981
The use of grade equivalent scores contrasted against grade placement is widespread in the diagnosis of dyslexia and other reading disabilities. Discusses difficulties and distortions of this method. Presents an alternative method for reliably determining aptitude/achievement discrepancies. (Author)
Descriptors: Academic Achievement, Academic Aptitude, Dyslexia, Educational Diagnosis
Bernknopf, Stan; And Others – 1979
The effectiveness of a model for determining a minimal cut-off score for criterion-referenced tests was examined. The model, based upon techniques presented originally by Nedelsky and by Angoff, was first used in conjunction with a multiple choice test developed for use in certifying school counselors in Georgia. A "knowledge estimation panel" was…
