The report examines the situation, prospects, and needs of Latin American youth in the context of changes which the region has undergone in recent decades and in the face of difficulties of the present and future. The report is divided into 11 sections, each containing 2 to 4 subtopics. The sections include: "Demographic Structure and Youth"; "The Insertion of Young People into the Working World"; "Young Female Labor: Growing Importance"; "Unemployment and Underemployment among Youth"; "The Educational Transformation and Its Impact on New Generations"; "Youth in Marginal Situations"; "Complexity of the Current Situation and Future Prospects"; "The Uncertainties of the Future"; "Importance of Generational Relationships in a Society in Transformation"; "Youth and Their Role in the Processes of Change"; and "Society and Youth." Also included is a statistical appendix containing 17 tables providing empirical support for the assertions made in the report. (TRS)
