White Racial Identity Models: A Critique and Alternative Proposal.
Rowe, Wayne; And Others
Counseling Psychologist, v22 n1 p129-46 Jan 1994
Challenges existing models of white racial identity and proposes alternative conceptualization, based on construct of white racial consciousness, as more parsimonious explanation for role of racially oriented attitudes. Proposes three types of unachieved white racial consciousness (avoidant, dependent, and dissonant) and four types of achieved white racial consciousness (dominative, conflictive, reactive, and integrative).
