Phillips, Susan D. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1982

Phillips, Susan D. – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1982
Examined the theoretically predicted adult career outcomes of individuals who engage in different developmental patterns of commitment to choice. Results indicated minimal support for the hypothesis that those who engage in increasing commitment and who do not revert to earlier behaviors would experience the most desirable outcomes in adulthood.…

Markunas, Patricia V. – 1978
The age-status system in adulthood was investigated, using a 58-item instrument which divided adulthood subjectively into three periods: normative expectations for various adulthood developmental tasks (marriage, parenthood, employment, retirement, etc.); the lower age constraints ("too young") for these behaviors. Hicks, Dale A.; Mathis, Andrew G. – 1980
Personality theorists have suggested the critical importance of parenting characteristics on the development of a child's personality. Meyers, Allan R.; And Others – International Journal of Aging and Human Development, 1981
Surveyed 928 older Bostonians and found a negative correlation between age and alcohol consumption among older adults. Retrospective data suggest that there are cohort or generational patterns of drinking behavior by older adults. Survey provides no insight into the historical factors which account for the differences in alcohol use. (Author/JAC)

Crow, Mary Lynn – Clearing House, 1987
Indicates that women experiencing a midlife crisis pass through five recognizable stages: (1) feeling trapped, (2) the first change, (3) multiple changes, (4) rational planning, and (5) implementing the plan. (NKA)

Peskin, Harvey; Livson, Norman – 1980
This paper presents the "uses of the past" model of personality development, a model in which adult development transforms an individual's history into resources for meeting present demands. The components of the model are delineated in terms of how: (1) neither the past nor the present is fixed in its effects or its contribution to present…

Bank, Lew; And Others – Advances in Applied Developmental Psychology, 1996
This study investigated sibling interaction patterns in middle childhood as predictors of adjustment outcomes in males during adolescence and early adulthood using a social interactional perspective. It was theorized that negative interaction during middle childhood with siblings and parents would be the most powerful predictor of adjustment in…

Roden, Margaret R.; And Others – 1985
Love and romance continue to be important issues within every age group, not merely among the usually studied college students. Two issues, the nature or intensity of the love experienced and the motives or purposes of love were examined for different age groups. The ways in which the pursuit of heterosexual love may change throughout adult life…
