Alvin Vista; Helyn Kim – Educational and Developmental Psychologist, 2025
Objective: Measurement tools for children's foundational skills provide important insights towards the developmental mechanisms of these domains. This study examines the structure of sensorimotor, visuospatial processing (VP), executive function (EF) skills and their interrelationship. The NEPSY is a widely-used neuropsychological instrument, but…

Aylward, Elizabeth H.; Schmidt, Steven – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1986
Kindergarten children (N=103) were administered three tests of visual-motor integration: Bender Gestalt Test, Beery Developmental Test of Visual Motor Integration and Geometric Design subtest of the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence. Issues discussed include interscorer reliabilities, correlations among scores, correlations…

Brannigan, Gary G.; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1995
Compares the Qualitative Scoring System and the Developmental Scoring Systems, both Bender-Gestalt tests, in predicting achievement on the Metropolitan Achievement Test (MAT). In this study, first through fourth graders (n=409) from regular elementary schools were subjected to both tests; both systems correlated significantly with school…

Blixt, Sonja; Kitson, Donald L. – Psychology in the Schools, 1982
Investigated the factor structure of the McCarthy Screening Test with a sample of 555 children. Data were analyzed by a principal components analysis followed by a varimax rotation. Results indicated that the subtests all measure parts of the same attribute (cognitive and sensorimotor functions) in varying degrees. (Author/RC)

Polubinski, Joseph; And Others – Psychology in the Schools, 1986
Beery's Developmental Test of Visual-Motor Integration was individually administered to 193 school-age children. Four factors were obtained, indicating that the test does not measure a unitary dimension of perceptual-motor development, but rather four distinct levels or stages for the age range of children investigated. (Author/ABB)

Tillman, Chester E. – 1974
A study was conducted to examine the relationship of perceptual motor skills as measured by the Bender Visual Motor Gestalt Test to word recognition, oral reading, and silent reading. In addition, perceptual motor skill and auditory comprehension were compared as correlates of the three reading variables. Subjects were 60 primary grade students in…

Garvey, Reba; Kimball, Thomas R. – 1978
The ability of the Perceptual-Motor-Rating Scale to indicate changes in regular classroom performance resulting from individualized perceptual-motor training by physical education specialists was statistically analyzed. Efforts were made to identify factors, confirm their independence, optimize scoring procedures and assess reliability.…

Williams, Karen – 1996
This paper reports on three studies within a 6-year longitudinal study which explored the use of Piagetian sensori-motor substages as a curriculum base for individuals with profound mental retardation (MR). In the first study, a simple observational inventory, the Cognitive Marker Natural Observational Tool (CM-NOT), was developed and evaluated…

United Cerebral Palsy of the Bluegrass, Inc., Lexington, KY. – 1973
The Lexington Development Scale was designed to be used by the teacher as an instrument for assessing developmentally handicapped children, as an aid in helping parents to better understand their child, as a basis for curriculum planning for the total class and especially for the individual child, as a means for evaluating the progress of the…
