Reviewed is the role of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the education and training of professional specialists in the field of environmental health. Particular emphasis is given to the environmental engineer. Cooperation between WHO and Unesco in this field is stressed. The World Health Organization has evolved a comprehensive program designed to assist Member States in developing the types and numbers of personnel required in the field of environmental health. The goals of this program are included in this paper. (Author/MA)
