Statewide Evaluation of Early Education Programs for Handicapped Children in Louisiana, 1985-86. Summary Report: Supervisors.
Anderson, Betty N.; Bower, JoAnn C.
The first section of the document consists of a questionnaire/survey instrument completed by 43 supervisors or coordinators of preschool handicapped programs as part of a study designed to evaluate the quality and efficiency of early education programs serving handicapped children (ages 3-5) in Louisiana during 1985-86. Frequency distribution of responses are included in the instrument. The second section is a narrative developed from interview data collected from 33 supervisors during on-site visits to preschool handicapped programs. Qualitative data on such topics as training and certification, experience, staff role, and coordination with kindergarten are summarized. Among problems frequently cited by supervisors were those related to transportation of children and lack of working space for professional ancillary staff such as speech therapists. (JW)
