ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Evangel University
Minimal research has been conducted to determine which curricular offerings are important to millennial parents. This issue needs to be addressed because millennial parents tend to buy real estate based on a school district's curricular offerings and effective promotions of those. The purpose of this qualitative study was to contribute to the limited research on how schools can better communicate and promote themselves to millennial parents. This study analyzed millennial parents' opinions of how school districts can make their curricular offerings more appealing and well-rounded for their children. Additionally, the study analyzed current marketing practices school districts are utilizing to reach the millennial parent demographic. The data revealed three major themes regarding curricular options, communication methods, marketing strategies, and how each has changed in light of the millennial generation. Data and discussion of the findings would be beneficial to district leaders seeking to maintain and increase enrollment in the coming years. Districts should consider marketing strategies that help engage the millennial generation of parents and promote curriculum revisions that reflect a 21st-century emphasis with programs that specialize in science, the arts, and career exploration.
