Deals with sexuality as a treatment issue in working with adolescents who have emotional and physical disabilities, and suggests that physical handicaps should not be viewed as separate from emotional dificulties. Describes a residential program for adolescents in Israel. (JAC)

Describes the concept of "therapeutic families," a reworking of the foster family concept. Being part of a network of treatment services and an extension of the residential treatment center, it makes for shorter stays in the more intensive treatment facility. The psychosocial difficulties that usually accompany learning disabilities are examined from a framework of developmental theory, particularly that of Erik Erikson. The implications of this perspective for treatment of adolescents with learning problems is discussed, and the summer residential program at Goddard College described. (Author)
