Evaluated the effectiveness of the Life Choices program in increasing internality and perceived competence in 74 sixth-grade girls. Results indicated the program was successful for working class subjects, but lower class girls showed no increase in internality or knowledge of career alternatives. (JAC)

Prince, Fountiene – Adolescence, 1995
Compared a 6-session, peer-led smoking intervention program for high school-age youth (n=93) to an identical program led by adults. Results showed a significant difference in the number of cigarettes smoked by students in both peer-led and adult-led groups when compared to the control group. (RJM)

Compared the effectiveness of a social consequence curriculum to health effects curriculums in a high school smoking prevention program. Results showed none of the programs was significantly more successful in reducing smoking onset or encouraging cessation. Teacher-taught programs were as effective as those taught by college students. (JAC)

Analyzes the development and implementation of a teen hotline that utilizes skilled student volunteers. A comprehensive and meaningful training program combined with a high level of acceptance among the general youth population resulted in a valuable service for both the client callers and the student volunteers.
