John Chick
American Association for Adult and Continuing Education, Paper presented at the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) 2024 Conference (5th, Reno, NV, Oct 28-Nov 1, 2024)
The scoping literature review examines the complex transition that military veterans undertake upon their discharge and subsequent pursuit of postsecondary educational opportunities. As an increased number of veterans transition to civilian life, the rise in the number of veterans pursuing postsecondary education underscores the importance of analyzing the barriers and enablers that student veterans encounter. This review underscores the importance of specialized support networks and resources that are attuned to the unique challenges and experiences of the individuals in question. To offer a comprehensive analysis of the academic careers of veterans, this review examines in depth more than 55 scholarly articles, reports, conferences, and gray literature that have been peer-reviewed.
