Can Pictures Be Arguments?
Fleming, David
Argumentation and Advocacy, v33 n1 p11-22 Sum 1996
Maintains that widening the study of argumentation to include the visual unjustifiably expands common understandings of argument, particularly those that define argument as a two-part, two-sided act. Contends that by calling pictures "arguments," it is possible that attention will be diverted away from the rhetorical functions pictures can and do serve. (PA)
