Usiskin, Zalman – Arithmetic Teacher, 1983
Calculators have made the arithmetic curriculum obsolete in both scope and sequence. Calculators can perform each operation as easily as any other. We should be asking if there is ever a time when we should trust paper-and-pencil computation. (MNS)

O'Neil, David R.; Jensen, Rosalie – Arithmetic Teacher, 1982
Ways elementary school teachers might use calculators to help students are noted. A total of nine activities, listed under place value, computation, and estimation, are provided to assist the classroom instructor in effectively employing calculators. (MP)

Judd, Wallace – Arithmetic Teacher, 1976
A collection of seven calculator games is presented. The mathematical concepts involved, the object of the game, the number of players needed, the rules, and variations for different grade levels are listed for each of the games. (DT)

Schnur, James O.; Lang, Jerry W. – Arithmetic Teacher, 1976
A study of the effect of the use of calculators on student computational ability is reported. Results showed that treatment groups using calculators gained significantly more whole number computational ability than control groups not using calculators. Interaction between sex of student and calculator usage was not significant. (DT)
