The combination of dramatics with mathematics is promoted. The script of a play "Even Nothing is Something" is presented in full. The material is used to convey mathematical concepts through the use of plays and skits. It is noted that students who struggle with daily work sparkle in the plays. (MP)

The programs provided for mathematically gifted students are divided into two categories, labeled enrichment and acceleration. These two types of programs are discussed and the basic forms of instructional patterns are presented, along with the pros and cons associated with each. (MP)

An enrichment program emphasizing activities with calculators and computers for mathematically advanced children is discussed. A system designed to provide workable mathematics enrichment to gifted students in a standard mathematics classroom is presented. Mathematical contracts are the main feature of this successfully used program. (MP)

An approach to problem solving is described that is based on analysis of how fast model race cars can go. The exercises were used to replace standard time/rate/distance exercises, and were found to be greatly enjoyed by both girls and boys. (MP)

An attempt to make problem solving a real part of the mathematics program in a second-grade classroom is described. It is felt that teachers can aid children in establishing attitudes of willingness to take risks and tackle unfamiliar tasks by focusing early on problem solving as a process. (MP)
