Research was conducted to teach two adults with schizophrenia and mental retardation to respond to recorded audio prompts when completing routine prevocational tasks. Subsequent improvements in the individuals' task completion performance suggest that audio prompts may serve as an efficient alternative to instructor assistance. (Author/GCP)

Reviews two general classes of strategies designed to reduce premature attrition and enhance treatment. Research on psychotherapy preparatory techniques indicates that these educational techniques are effective in reducing early-treatment attrition and may be especially effective with populations at high risk for dropout.
