A recent report of Northeastern University's Center for the Study of Sport in Society finds that National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I college and university sports departments are not hiring appropriate numbers of minorities and women, especially in such positions as athletic directors and coaches. In contrast, minorities are continuing to make inroads in professional sports, especially basketball. (DB)
