The absentee-cuing system investigated in this study refers to the use of a wireless microphone by a counselor trainer to transmit messages to a counselor-in-training while she or he is actually engaged in the act of counseling. In a sample of first-year college women (N=88), loneliness was related to discrepancy between perceived and reflected self, and father's level of income. Occupational personality types of Arts and Science freshmen were compared employing the six General Occupational Themes of the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory in a multiple-discriminant analysis. Interest patterns of Canadian military college cadets were acquired by administering Strong Vocational Interest Blanks to three consecutive entry classes at beginning, middle and end of their baccalaureate programs. Compared the attitudes toward physically disabled persons held by individuals at three educational levels who had personal contact vs no such contact with the disabled. A version of the Tennessee Self Concept Scale was used to measure self-esteem and adjustment in groups of users and nonusers of the counseling center at a French Canadian University. Users were found to have significantly lower self-esteem scores than nonusers. Sex seemed unrelated. (Author)
