Investigates the views that loneliness is related to the type of childhood friends and activities one has, and that lonely adults are more hostile in interpersonal situations. Results confirmed the hostility hypothesis and partially confirmed the friendship hypothesis. (Author/PC)

Role-playing activities were employed by an elementary school counselor to influence moral development. Support was not found for moral reasoning and social perspective-taking levels being influenced by role-playing. Evidence in support of the age-related nature of these constructs and their parallel pattern of development was found. (Author)

The characteristics, motives and goals of mature male students (N=22) are compared to those of an age-matched sample of mature women continuing their education. Men continued their education for career-oriented reasons, while women were seeking more personal goals. Explanations are suggested for male compliance with stereotypes. (Author)
