Activities and Interactions of Mothers and Their Firstborn Infants in the First Six Months of Life: Covariation, Stability, Continuity, Correspondence, and Prediction.
Bornstein, Marc H.; Tamis-LeMonda, Catherine S.
Child Development, v61 n4 p1206-17 Aug 1990
Activities of 28 primiparous mothers and their infants that occurred during naturalistic interactions at home were observed when infants were two and five months of age. Findings indicated that infants appeared to be flexible and plastic in their behavioral repertoires, and were influenced by their mothers. Mothers adapted to the behaviors of their infants. (RH)
