University supervisors must work with the cooperating teachers in inservice preparation for improving supervisory skills in dealing with student teachers. Two areas seem to be of prime importance: (1) planning and preparation spent by the student teachers before teaching, and (2) conferencing with the student teachers. (Author)

Principals and teachers in a Utah school district rated the quality of new teachers compared to experienced teachers and determined areas of strength and weakness reflected from a teacher training program. Concluded that teacher training institutions in this area are providing training for new teachers consistent with current needs. (Author/JAC)

New strategies to allow students to understand and cope with mainstreaming, special educational and multicultural education approaches must begin at an earlier point in the teacher training process.
