Humanoid Robots: Acceptance for Personal and Family Use
Chang, I. Joyce; Huff, Stacy; Knox, David
College Student Journal, v53 n1 p71-77 Mar 2019
Undergraduates (345) at a large southeastern university completed a 34-item Internet survey on the acceptance and use of humanoid robots (robots with humanlike features). Respondents who were male, African-American, less religious and juniors/senior were more approving of humanoid robots. In addition, there was general acceptance for using robots for elder care and for companionship. Symbolic interaction theory was used to interpret the findings. Implications and limitations were discussed.
