Learning to See: Enhancing Student Learning through Videotaped Feedback
Yakura, Elaine K.
College Teaching, v57 n3 p177-183 Sum 2009
Feedback is crucial to developing skills, but meaningful feedback is difficult to provide. Classroom videotaping can provide effective feedback on student performance, but for video feedback to be most helpful, students must develop a type of "visual intelligence"--analytical skills that increase critical thinking and self-awareness. The author describes strategies for effective use of classroom videotaping and describes how it can improve student skills and performance as well as deepen understanding and empathy. (Contains 2 figures and 1 table.)
