Origins and development of a computerized credit transfer system for students in the University of Wisconsin system is described. The program will become the official course equivalency and degree requirement schema for the university, and will also serve the Wisconsin Technical College system. (Author/MSE)

A passive computer application using student course transcripts to group and arrange specific degree requirements to produce an advising worksheet is described, and the language used by a math department for this purpose is outlined. A sample advisement form resulting from the program is reproduced. (MSE)

Thirty-three universities were surveyed by the University of Arizona to see who was responsible for the process of evaluating students' remaining degree requirements, how much of this process was automated or computerized, and who in each institution responds to the Higher Education General Information Survey.
