A Theoretical Model of Community College Student Degree Persistence.
Webb, Mel
Community College Review, v16 n4 p42-49 Spr 1989
Presents a research-based model of student persistence. Concludes that high school academic achievement, needs for financial aid and employment, day/evening status, goal commitment, and expected student/college fit have primary effects on persistence, while background characteristics and academic self-confidence have secondary effects. Explains Tinto's and Bean and Metzner's retention models. (DMM)
