From Static to Dynamic: Choosing and Implementing a Web-Based CMS
Kneale, Ruth
Computers in Libraries, v28 n3 p16-20 Mar 2008
Working as systems librarian for the Advanced Technology Solar Telescope (ATST), a project for the National Solar Observatory (NSO) based in Tucson, Arizona, a large part of the author's responsibilities involve running the web site. She began looking into content management systems (CMSs), specifically ones for website control. A CMS is generally used to create, control, store, and publish information. In addition, as Wikipedia points out, content management systems "are deployed primarily for interactive use by a potentially large number of contributors." In this article, the author describes how she worked inside the dynamic world of web content management systems and discusses how to choose and implement a Web-based CMS. (Contains 1 table.)
