CASE Insights on Alumni Engagement, 2024 Key Findings
Ann E. Kaplan; Kimberly Kane, Editor
Council for Advancement and Support of Education
The Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Insights on Alumni Engagement survey is now in its sixth year. Over the past three years, a core group of respondents has emerged and continues to grow. The survey has respondents from all CASE regions and allows global, regional, and peer-based benchmarking. Respondents can also track their own progress over time. In 2024, 394 institutions from four regions representing 19 countries reported on the engagement of 60 million contactable alumni. Behind each engagement with these alumni is a strategy, such as a well-timed message or a relationship cultivated over many years. As institutions get better at tracking engagement and technology advances to support this tracking, the number of contacts reported is expected to grow substantially. By using CASE's Alumni Engagement framework, institutions not only capture activity; they measure the quality and effectiveness of their efforts across four modes--communication, experiential, philanthropy, and volunteering. This framework provides a shared language that allows institutions to assess what is working, identify areas of opportunity, and recognize ways alumni are most frequently engaged.
