The Experiential Consultation Training Model (ECTM) provides students an opportunity to develop and practice consultation skills through real-life experiences in actual professional settings. The Extern Program is designed to provide inservice education through didactic, experiential learning activities implemented on a one weekend per month schedule for nine months. Procedures for developing a videotaped counselor skill training package are outlined. Steps (N=11) describe integrating simulation techniques and a systematic training paradigm for the video package. In order to facilitate a synergistic relationship to the community, the Center for Human Development was established at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. The major purpose of the Center was to initiate adjunct professional experiences to assist the training of graduate students in counseling and guidance. Results are discussed. (Author)

The use by counselors of a Human Resources Development (HRD) model for preparing teachers to help in career education is discussed. In-service workshops for a counselor and a small group of teachers are proposed, and a step by step procedure for implementing the model is presented. (Author)
