According to new data from the 1993-94 National Survey of Salaries and Wages in Public Schools, large school districts are currently facing challenges in staffing and teacher compensation. Larger districts reported only a 0.9% increase in teacher salaries, compared to a 3.2% increase for all public school employees. Student-central office administrator ratios are significantly higher in larger districts. (MLH)
