Observed neglecting and nonneglecting mothers and their one- to three-year-old children during unstructured play interaction in their homes. Neglecting mothers were less positive in their responsiveness to their children and less competent in the developmental appropriateness of their play interactions than nonneglecting mothers. (MM)

Fagan, Jay – Early Child Development and Care, 1994
Compared the involvement of 28 mothers and their spouses who worked varying distances from their day-care centers. Found that mothers were significantly more involved in the center than fathers, even after statistically controlling for distance to the workplace and occupational status. (TJQ)
