Care and Education of Orphaned Children in Poland
Nowak-Fabrykowski, Krystyna
Early Child Development and Care, v174 n7-8 p621-627 Dec 2004
Poland is going through tremendous changes in its educational and health-care systems. These changes may bring reforms in the care of orphaned children, because the new politics and economy are forcing educators to look for new solutions and forms of care. There are many problems with the care of orphan children in Poland in both Children's Homes and foster parent care. In this article we analyze the history of care for orphans, and the dilemma stressed in recent research conducted in Poland. We also present an exemplary Children's Home in Lodz and its effort to provide the best care possible in the existing situation in Poland.
