The Effect of Gender Composition of Faculty on Student Retention.
Robst, John; Keil, Jack; Russo, Dean
Economics of Education Review, v17 n4 p429-39 Oct 1998
Examines whether female students have higher first-year retention rates when a greater percentage of their classes are taught by female faculty at a New York State university. Results found a positive relationship between retention of female students and percentage of female-taught science and mathematics classes. Faculty gender has a greater effect on female students in classes with fewer female students. (29 references) (MLH)
