Reviews the role of education and human-resource development in the process of modern Korean economic growth. Korea is becoming increasingly industrialized and is rapidly reorganizing its labor-intensive industries into knowledge and high-tech industries. The next phase of the educational and human resources challenge will be to develop research-oriented universities emphasizing graduate-level programs in science and technology. (19 references) (MLH)
