A five-second constant time delay procedure with recipe cards was used to teach drink preparation to five intermediate-aged elementary students with moderate mental handicaps. This study assessed the differential effectiveness of two types of response delays on correct responding (with communicative gestures) by three individuals with severe mental handicaps to training instructions. Social skills training and self-monitoring were used to remediate socially inappropriate behaviors of a man with Down Syndrome in a supported competitive employment setting. This report describes a self-management skills intervention utilizing a picture schedule for four high school students with moderate to severe mental retardation.
