Wass, Hannelore – Educational Gerontology, 1977
Using 23 items from the Shneidman questionnaire, views of three groups of elderly persons concerning death and dying were examined and compared with views of a national sample of Psychology Today readers surveyed by Shneidman. The elderly group exhibited more traditional points of view than did the PT group. (Author)

Seefeldt, Carol; And Others – Educational Gerontology, 1977
The CATE (Children's Attitudes Toward the Elderly) was administered to 180 children, 20 at each level from age three to age 11. Results suggest that children at all age levels have limited knowledge of and contact with older people. Children's concepts of age increase in accuracy with increases in age. (Author)

A semantic differential technique was used to compare the attitudes of 70 adolescents and 65 young adults toward the aged. The Instrumental-Ineffective dimension illustrated that the adolescent population demonstrated a more favorable attitude toward the aged than did the young adults. (Author)

Adult males (N=90) ages 25 to 58 were individually tested with three cognitive style measures. Error scores on the MFF (Matching Familiar Figures Test) are a better predictor of test performance than are latencies. Tests were administered to learn what academic experiences might be most effective in changing negative attitudes and stereotypes about older people and influencing one's perception of one's own eventual aging as well as the aging of one's family members.
